Over 100 Homes Evacuated, Roads Closed After Natural Gas Well Explosion

Louisiana State Police say that over 100 homes have been evacuated following the natural gas well explosion at 1142 Bourque Road in Lafayette near Duson. The rig is still spewing mud.

Police are shutting down the following roads:

Golden Grain Road and Fieldspan Road, Odessa Road and Sellers Road,
Monte Road and Lagneaux Road, Denais Road and Leblanc Road.

Police say these roads will be closed for hours.

Any residents with questions are asked to go to Judice Middle School located at 2645 South Fieldspan Road, Duson, LA. The Red Cross and the Office of Emergency Preparedness are set up there to answer questions.

Alexander day care also evacuated.
